In 2016 I started Fusion BD for principals who understand the need to empower their project professionals with the knowledge and skills to navigate the changing BD environment. 

​

For more than 25 years I’ve led BD/Marketing efforts for architecture, engineering, and construction companies in varying size ranging from a regionally focused 50-person firm, to multi-office national firms with more than 2500 persons.  In that time, I learned that regardless of a firm’s size and reach, principals are faced with two huge challenges in managing BD in
a modern A/E/C firm. 

 

First, is the need to integrate project professionals and technical staff into the business development process. At an increasing rate, sophisticated C-level buyers of design and construction services are preferring to engage with principals and project professionals,

rather than non-technical BD persons.

Second, is the need to drive your BD/marketing efforts in a manner that enables you to reliably predict how your pipeline of potential projects will impact your operational needs. Principals need to know how BD efforts such as client strategy and project pursuits will affect future business operations issues including fee projections, staff utilization, and capital spending.
